Drew Maloney is a filmmaker and photographer from the south shore of Long Island. He was raised along the bay and beaches, surfing and clamming with his two brothers. An accident during his freshman year at Marist College resulted in down time the following year. This pushed him to find a keen interest in painting canvas and skateboard decks for a local shop, while video recording the process. He promptly switched his major to Fine Art, and soon realized his passion for documenting his experiences.

The following years Drew traveled the globe looking for new experiences as he taught himself filmmaking and photography on the run. His creative approach to seek out experiences often led him to remote locations ranging from relocating campervans throughout Australia, to studying underwater photography and freediving in Mozambique. He would capture spontaneous and authentic moments, naturally, as a result of his affable and calm demeanor.

Drew directed his first sustainability film in Mozambique, Breaking Water (2014), at age 22. It was regarded for its rare and compelling footage of marine life as well as its spotlight on illegal fishing practices in the region. He was soon contacted by Nat Geo TV for rare footage from the film. This scratched Drew’s itch to pursue sustainability work. Soon after, he co-founded Oceans Week in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he would contribute his photography and video skillset until 2019.

Drew has talent and a creative eye - coupled with a diligent work ethic. During his five plus years at The Mill NY, Drew worked as a Flame Artist on major commercial and Superbowl campaigns. These include Bud Light, Lincoln, Ford, Target, Volkswagen, Green Mountain Coffee, Chantix, Michelob Ultra, Verizon and 23&Me, to name a few. Having a reliable reputation at the studio, he would often find himself in client-facing Lead positions for projects.

Drew’s following film, Time & Tide (2017), screened at various venues and festivals around the globe. Drew partnered with non-profits, such as Save The Great South Bay and Surfrider NYC, to benefit from each NY screening. The film was regarded for its cinematography techniques, original soundtrack and was selected for the Save The Waves film circuit.

Drew diversified his commercial portfolio throughout the pandemic as a director, photographer and cinematographer. His photo imagery of coastal outdoor settings is sought after and has been featured in publications including the New York Times and VOGUE. He has directed photography for brands such as AriZona Beverages. He works with professional creative teams to elevate commercial video campaigns with brands such as Faherty, MyTheresa.com, Belcampo and J.McLaughlin to name a few.

He brings a prepared, personable and sincere atmosphere to sets, an unparalleled attention to detail with a passion for creative storytelling.
